Spicy nuts

½ lb / 220 g almondsDSC03238
½ lb / 220 g cashews
¼ cup white sugar
1½ tsp kosher salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
1 tsp oil


Toast nuts at 350 F (175 C) till golden brown, about 10 minutes. Watch closely as they burn easily.
Mix sugar, salt and cayenne pepper in bowl.
Add water, honey, oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add toasted nuts when mixture is heated. Coat evenly.
Pour nuts into sugar mixture and coat evenly.
Spread onto a baking sheet in a single later to cool.
